I am a strong advocate for building our manufacturing economy and growing our skilled workforce. I co-sponsored Public Act 19-58: “An Act Promoting Careers In Manufacturing To Public School Students And Establishing A Task Force To Study The Demand For Career and Technical Education Teachers” to require guidance counselors and school counselors to provide materials concerning manufacturing, military and law enforcement careers to students. It also establishes a task force to study the demand for career and technical education teachers in the state.
Another bill I co-sponsored was Public Act 19-103: “An Act Establishing a Pilot Program for the Expansion of Advanced Manufacturing Certificate Programs” which expands opportunities for local public high schools to collaborate with regional community technical colleges to offer manufacturing certificate programs.
