Talk about adding tolls to Connecticut highways has been going on for years, and this year was no exception with several bills coming before legislative committees. Despite the governor’s flip-flop on trucks-only tolling, ill-defined plans with varying numbers of toll gantries and which highways would be tolled, and the Democrats’ push to raise an additional billion dollars by taxing drivers just trying to go to and from work or visiting friends and family in different parts of the state, we were able to stop their implementation. For now. Make no mistake, this issue will come back to the legislature, even as early as this summer. I am vehemently against adding tolls to our highways and will not support a plan that penalizes Connecticut residents for daring to drive a car.
